    In short

    • The cable car runs along the riverfront of Parque das Nações. The line is 1,230 metres long and the ride lasts between 8 and 12 minutes, depending on the speed. It opened in March 1998, for Expo 98.
    • From 24 October 2026 to 12 March 2027 it runs every day from 11:00 to 18:00. The last ride is not published, so do not arrive right at closing time. The hours from 13 March 2027 are not published yet.
    • The cabins are closed, with automatic doors, and each one holds up to 8 passengers. They are accessible to wheelchairs. You cannot eat or smoke inside, only water is allowed, and children under 13 must ride with an adult.
    • Short on time? The ride is only about 10 minutes, so it fits between other plans. Want an easy half day? Combine it with the Oceanarium, which is right beside the south station.

Two stations, one on each end of the park

The south station is at Passeio de Neptuno, right next to the Oceanarium. The north station is at Passeio das Tágides, next to the old Vasco da Gama Tower. You can start from either end.

    A line over the river

The cabins run along the Tagus estuary, a few metres from the bank, on nine intermediate towers whose bases stand on the river bed. It is a short ride, but the water is always beside you.

    The Vasco da Gama Tower

The Vasco da Gama Tower, a tall white sail-shaped tower beside a hotel block, at Parque das Nações

The tower is 160 metres tall and was built in 1998 for Expo 98. Today it is part of a hotel, so the cabin is the easy way to admire it.

The bridge and the modern district

From the cabin you also see the Vasco da Gama Bridge, Gare do Oriente, the MEO Arena and the Portugal Pavilion. They make a bold contrast with the old streets of the city centre.
